We wear many hats ...
No, we literally wear many hats.

We here at Juxtaposers.com hate it when bands cop out and claim that their music "defies classification," which makes it all the more frustratingly ironic that our music actually does defy classification.

Here's what we can tell you about it:

It is all acoustic.

It is largely influenced by folk music, but also takes cues from power pop, alternative rock, grunge, alt-country, funk, punk, heavy metal, hip hop, indie rock, bluegrass and just about anything else we've ever listened to and enjoyed. Alternative folk probably sums it up pretty well.

It tends to fall into the opposing extremes of extremely serious songs about heartbreak and death ... or extremely goofy songs about beer and shoes.

It falls somewhere between Simon & Garfunkle and Tenacious D.

It is produced by these guys:

History

Ryan "Buttmonica" McInnis and Bill "Finger" Chapins first jammed together at the Bluewater Folk Society's Thumbfest music festival at Camp Ozanam in Sanilac Township, Mich., in August 2003. It went so well, they decided to work on a set of songs for the society's monthly open-mic coffeehouse in Lexington. That went so well, they worked on another set of songs the next month, and another the next month, until they had learned a whole bunch of songs together. Their first official gig was April 2004 at the Raven Coffeehouse in Port Huron. Nathan "Explosion" Dauphinais joined the group in 2005 during the recording sessions for its (still unfinished) debut album. At some point in 2006, Jim "Sweet Papa Jimmy" Smith joined the ranks, adding some much-appreciated musical knowledge and much-needed twang to the band. It should also be known that, at times, these four combine forces with Amy "I was in Pixie Dix" Proctor to form the country-rock quintet Tumblehome.
